PALMETTOPRIDE ANNOUNCES TREE GRANT AND KEEP SOUTH CAROLINA BEAUTIFUL GRANT

Columbia, SC – PalmettoPride, your anti-litter and beautification organization, announces two groups of winners under their grants program: the PalmettoPride Tree Grant and the Keep South Carolina Beautiful Grant.

The PalmettoPride Tree Grant provides trees to groups for beautification projects in public spaces.  Recipients choose from a list of trees that are grown at the SC Department of Corrections.  At the time of receipt, the trees are 5 – 6 feet tall and come in 5-gallon containers.  All recipients must plant the trees in a public space.  Twenty-nine groups were awarded over 1,600.

The Keep South Carolina Beautiful Grant provides funding to local Keep America Beautiful (KAB) affiliates to develop programs that comply with KAB‘s three focus areas: litter reduction, waste reduction and beautification.  PalmettoPride granted 10 local affiliates over $71,000.

PalmettoPride also provides KAB start-up grants to assist new affiliates.  Two new affiliates received their start up grant funds this year: Keep Dillon County Beautiful and Keep Colleton Beautiful.

The PalmettoPride Grant program is comprised of five grants: the Tree Grant, KSCB Grant, the Challenge for the Environment Grant, the Enforcement Grant and the Community Pride Grant.  The Community Pride and Enforcement Grants will be available for download on www.palmettopride.org in November.

A list of grant winners follows.  For more information, please contact Sarah Robinson at 803-758-6034 or srobinson@palmettopride.org.
