MEDIA ADVISORY PICKENS COUNTY PRIDE WEEK KICKS OFF FRIDAY WITH B93.7 Pickens County Pride Week lasts from October 20 – October 27, 2007 WHO: Pickens County Beautification Advisory Committee and PalmettoPride WHAT: Pickens County has partnered with PalmettoPride to plan and promote a weeklong countywide cleanup event. Volunteers are encouraged to plan or participate in community cleanups. The mission of Pride Week is to encourage citizens to get involved in cleanups and beautification projects, to increase volunteer participation in on-going cleanup efforts and to educate people on the effects of litter. PalmettoPride will host a 2-hour radio show to kick off the event with B93.7. We encourage people to come by Lowe's and sign up for a cleanup. We will be giving out trash bags, safety vests and gloves to all groups that sign up. WHEN: Radio Remote with B93.7 will be held on Friday, October 19, 2007, from 11:00am – 1:00pm. WHERE: Lowe's on 123 in Easley IN ADDITION: Several challenges have been laid out for municipalities, community and neighborhood groups, schools and youth groups to provide beautification grant money for cleanup efforts. Trash bags, safety vests and work gloves will be provided for all volunteers.
