KEEP SOUTH CAROLINA BEAUTIFUL WELCOMES NEWEST AFFILIATE
Keep Greenville County Beautiful Becomes the 24th Affiliate in Its Growing Network Columbia, SC – Keep Greenville County Beautiful was certified Tuesday as the newest affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc. (KAB) network in South Carolina. Keep Greenville County Beautiful joins 23 city and county affiliates dedicated to improving communities all over the state through litter prevention, waste reduction and beautification. “As part of our Keep America Beautiful network, Greenville County has pledged to act as a catalyst for positive change, with the goal of engaging the entire community in volunteer activities that improve the quality of life for every resident,” said Matthew M. McKenna, President and CEO of Keep America Beautiful, Inc. “We welcome Keep Greenville County Beautiful as an important part of our national affiliate movement to beautify communities and improve the environment.” Keep Greenville County Beautiful will join Keep America Beautiful's nearly 1,000 local affiliates and participating organizations, including 21 statewide programs in the United States, and international programs in Canada, South Africa and the Bahamas. This network of affiliates and the thousands of men and women who serve as KAB affiliate coordinators, board and committee members will mobilize an estimated 3 million citizen-volunteers this year alone to take positive action on environmental concerns. As a result, litter is being reduced; solid waste is being managed responsibly; and citizens are adopting vacant lots, roadways and other public spaces. Trees and flowers are replacing trash heaps and illegal dumpsites; graffiti-prevention programs are being implemented; and “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” efforts are expanding. Keep South Carolina Beautiful (KSCB) has a strong network of KAB affiliates that receive national recognition annually for their programs. KSCB is a program of PalmettoPride, the state anti-litter and beautification organization, and coordinates year-round community events statewide.
