USC ATHLETICS AND PALMETTOPRIDE TEAM UP AGAIN TO CURB LITTER
New Baseball Stadium Brings Volunteers to the Stands against Litter Columbia, SC – PalmettoPride, your anti-litter organization, and Gamecock Sports Properties are bringing their successful anti-litter program Keeping the Colonial Life Arena Clean to the new Carolina Baseball Stadium. This Saturday will mark the first of eight games that volunteers from area youth baseball teams will lead the crowd in how to properly throw away trash. The Rays from the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission will kick off the season at the USC-LSU game. At the end of the seventh inning, the volunteers walk throughout the stands carrying trash bags for visitors to throw away their trash. A Public Service Announcement for PalmettoPride accompanies the activity. “The idea is to have the volunteers lead by example, We have such a beautiful new stadium, it would be a shame for visitors to just leave their trash on the floor after each game,” said Sarah Robinson, Public Relations Manager for PalmettoPride. “This program reinforces one of life's lessons – don't litter. There is a proper place to put your trash.” Gamecock Sports Properties (GSP), the sports marketing rights-holder for USC Athletics, is responsible for recruiting volunteers from local baseball and t-ball teams. GSP approached PalmettoPride last year to initiate the Keeping the Colonial Life Arena Clean, which has run for two years during all men's SEC home games. The event is popular for young sports enthusiasts. Volunteer groups receive tickets to the games and PalmettoPride t-shirts in exchange for their efforts.
